POST OP UPDATE ON AVA!

This past Wednesday Ava and I returned to Sick Kids Hospital to have her stitches and nasal splint removed. She had to have another general anesthetic for this procedure. It was just a half hour surgery and because I am an RN they discharged her from Recovery Room rather than having to go back to Day Surgery to be discharged. All around she was much happier this time around. They brought me into Recovery Room before she was awake so I was there when she did wake up. These Pics below are from later that afternoon once home.

AVA'S RECOVERY CONTINUES TO PROGRESS!

POST OP DAY # 4

Ava continues to progress well. I'm having a hard time trying to get her to slow down. As far as she is concerned she can still do, climb, run, jump as she did without the arm splints on! All of her chairs have been moved into my room until the spints come off! This kid has no fear!
I'm starting to see that smile of hers again...although it's not quite ear to ear!

POST OP DAY # 5
Off the liquid diet and on to pureed! Even more smiles today!

WAITING MOMMIES DINNER # 3

Since Ava's surgery was booked for the 4th of July and the next waiting mommies dinner was happening on the 6th I didn't think we'd be able to attend...little did I know how well my little trouper would be recovering! So off we went and enjoyed another great evening with alot of great women!

AVA'S SURGERY GOES WELL....DIDN'T SLOW HER DOWN A BIT!!

Last couple of pictures of Ava before her surgery...taken that morning just before we left for Toronto.

Ava in Recovery Room

Ava now in her room for the night

During the Operative night

First morning post op

I can't believe the difference!(I kinda miss that ear to ear grin!)

First post operative day...looking a little stoned!

Dressed and ready to go home the afternoon of day after surgery. She definately does not like medical staff...was hysterical if the nurses or doctors got within 5 feet of her...she was Ok if they assessed her from the door...but if they entered the room....meltdown! She had an O2 sat monitor on so it monitored her oxygen saturation and her pulse and I took her BP and Temp.
I guess she was a bit of a handful in Recovery Room also...upon waking immediately pulled out her IV and when they were able to get another one in(in her foot this time....as far away from her hands as you can get!) they needed to resedate her as she was way too awake and fighting them with everything she had. Working in Recovery Room, I know how wild children can wake from an anesthetic...we often need four people to hold a 12-24 month old on a stretcher....it's like they have super human strenght!....the good thing is they never remember any of their Recovery Room experience....the drugs have an amnesic effect.

Slept the whole way home...finally able to relax knowing no medical staff will be entering her room.

Home only an hour and back playing already.
